Added the new Sept./Oct. 76 list to all of the bookstore sites tonight. Some hot books from this list:
Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk
Himalayan Dhaba by Craig Danner
Powder by Kevin Sampson
and my favorite is Carter Beats the Devil in paperback. I reread the first chapter today and it's still as brilliant and addictive as I remembered. The first chapter sets up the excitement, tension, and adventure of the whole story. President Harding, known as a corrupt politician, participates in a dangerous magician's act and later dies. Was the magician, Carter the Great, responsible? History of magic, American political scandals, and a tense conclusion. Reminded me of the historical escapism of Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
