Okay, this is a great book: One Hundred Demons by Lynda Barry. She spoke at the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) trade show this month, and was fantastic. I read the book last night (it's a quick read) and loved the illustrations and the content. She pulls a number of childhood memories and assigns the name of a demon to each one. It's truly amazing how her specific experiences echo all of our memories. I could see my experiences in hers, and laugh, cry, and learn from each one.
From the jacket copy:
"Lynda Barry is a cartoonist, novelist, and playwright whose work appears all over tarnation...She lives in the mid-west because it's a place where average-looking people are considered foxy."

I'll be recommending this as a holiday gift to give to a close childhood friend or sibling.
