Spent Labor Day hiking near Mt. Rainier. Amazing how a little spray from a 500-ft waterfall can energize you. I've been working on the resource pages for the new AnthemBooks.com site. (Coming soon!)

Also planning the final outline for my session next week at PNBA (Friday morning, Sept. 13, 9:00 am). I've made some mistakes at past sessions that I hope not to repeat this time. The advanced users session at the 2001 BEA turned out to be overkill for most of the participants. Then I went way over my time at the 2000 MPBA show. Yikes, sorry to anyone who sat through that two hour session!! So I'm really working on what to say this time.

The main thrust is that stores should focus on the communication advantages of a website, not just the ecommerce. I think many bookstores have reached a point where they're putting their web address on all promotion materials, but need to make the leap to an email newsletter. With the newsletter, they can begin communicating regularly with their best customers, with publisher contacts, authors, other booksellers, advertising venues, etc. etc.
