Yesterday I finished Chuck Palahniuk's new novel,
Lullaby. I'd read Fight Club, but not yet on Invisible Monsters, Survivor, or Choke. I guess you could say I've read his first and his latest. He likes fast-paced stories with lots of fantastic ideas, social commentary, and a bit of horror/shock. It all seems to mix nicely.

I'm in the middle of Jonathan Carroll's newest book, White Apples. It's wonderful. I'm digging the visual elements. Some scenes read like a movie. Especially one part with floating Scrabble tiles in a diner. Trust me, it works. PLEASE read this author if you haven't yet (especially if you like Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, or Kelly Link). Wonderful ideas happening here. Reminds me how imaginative books can be; how every time we start on page one we have no idea where the story will take us. In the hands of a skilled author, like Carroll, reading is surprising and rewarding.

Read the first chapter of The Wooden Sea, his previous novel.
I like his website, too.
