LEMURIA BOOKSTORE E-NEWSLETTER

Lemuria Books in Jackson, Mississippi is a store that's doing a LOT of things right. I imagine if they were anywhere except Mississippi they would already have a larger reputation in the book world. The store carries New and Rare books, has a great events lineup, focuses on getting signed copies of literary writers to sell on the site, has a unique shelving system in store to promote browsing and book discovery, and is beginning to turn out very high quality booksellers (Tim Huggins, of Newtonville Books in Newton, MA is an alumni).

Here's what's great about their web site:

A list of rare books in stock including a Pennyroyal Caxton Holy Bible and a signed Faulkner

A link to the web site for their building (Banner Hall). "Banner Hall is owned in one-third shares by Broad Street Baking Company, Lemuria and the Bridal Path and Tuxes Too. 50% of the square footage of the building is occupied by owners. Thus half the tenants have the best interests of the the building and its concept in mind. This has allowed the owners to develop Banner Hall into a community retail hall with a cosmopolitan flavor that complements their operations."

Current Staff Picks

A page of Other Stuff that includes pictures from events with John Grisham (he makes very few author stops nowadays) and links to author sites like Jim Harrison.

You can sign up for their email newsletter on the site. It's a good one.
