Anthem Book Blog

All day today I've been having this same bookstore fantasy that I've been having for months (No, not the Margaret Atwood/Joyce Carol Oates one anymore, thankfully). No, in this one a customer asks for a particular book, I say "Yes, we definitely have that book, and I jump in the air and do a kung-fu kick while grabbing the book off of a top shelf. Of course, the camera spins around like a scene from the Matrix. Then I realize that if it really were a Matrix shot, then I wouldn't get to see the camera angle spin part because I'd be in the scene, jumping, and it'd just be me in the air grabbing a book, and probably injuring myself. Someone else would get to see the whole thing on the movie screen. That makes me feel better and okay that I can't jump and kung-fu kick. Besides, it'd probably scare the customer.
