Store Manager Position in Ft. Wayne, IN
A few weeks ago PW Daily ran a story on a new bookstore in Ft. Wayne opening soon. Recently, this ad went up in the PW Job Board:
JOB TITLE: GENERAL MANAGER
COMPANY: Mitchell Books
LOCATION: Fort Wayne, IN
Mitchell Books (MB) is a new independent bookstore (22,300 SF). It will have a complete selection of books but will focus on Children's, Travel, and Health / Spiritual. Additionally, MB will feature a theatre with 60 seats for children's, independent, foreign and classic films and will have a full-service cafe.
In the development process (from hiring until opening) the GM will be involved in initial ordering, POS selection, hiring, display, and all other aspects involved in opening a new store.
Applicants should have no less than three years managing a large (5,000 square feet or greater) bookstore, strong references, a passion for both books and the bookselling business and a strong accounting / financial aptitude. The demands of the position will require a significantly greater commitment than 40-hours a week.
