BloggerCorps
The following is an example of the power of blogs. The future of this medium as a tool of communication and activism is still wide open.
Less than a week ago at BloggerCon 3 (which I'd never heard of before ten minutes ago) a blogger, Rebecca McKinnon, came up with this idea: "socially conscious members of the blogging community (of all political persuasions) might want to organize a "Blogger Corps." Through it, bloggers could donate their time to help poorly funded activists or non-profit groups to figure out what blogging tools are right for them, set up blogs, and develop effective blogging strategies."
An audience member, John Stanforth, immediately registered bloggercorps.org/.net/.com. I mean immediately. He did it from his seat using his WiFI equipped laptop. Now the site is up and in the words of their mission statement, "Matching bloggers with activists and non-profit groups who want to blog and need help getting started."
www.BloggerCorps.org
Less than 24 hours from idea to execution. Less than a week to spread through the blogosphere to reach my little corner of the world. And now I pass it on to you.
This is a remarkable age. Crazy events are about to happen. Something's going on right now.
