If you haven't tried this already, I highly recommend driving around Detroit close to rush hour with only a badly photocopied map from the hotel front-desk. The map must be written in a confusing mixture of sanskrit and crayon. To add a sense of adventure, set up five to six appointments with various bookstores around the greater metropolitan area, none closer than half an hour from each other. Oh yeah, and make sure the weather insists on alternating between bright sun and snow flurries.
